The Babbling Bleating Old Man

Bersatu Games 2007

Filed under: My Circle of Life

So, the Games finished emoticon What relief.

However, there is still more to learn from it. Trying to toe the stringent budget has definitely taken the toll on the organization. Opting for university facilities instead of centralized sport centres such as Pioneer Stadium and Jade Stadium left the organizers no choice but to compress the schedule water-tight. And of course, the supporters had lesser space to roam around as compared to the Edgar Centre in the previous edition of Bersatu. Well, at least we did survive with the resources available with a couple of glitches along the way.

The biggest sacrifice by using the university is the time for participants and supporters alike to mingle around. Spare time was too little for people to interact. Beyond that, the competition was too intense for friendship to blossom mannerly. Hmm… maybe not too Bersatu (United) after all.

For my role, I did my utmost possible to make the travelling contingents comfortable. Lost supporters, food delivery, schedule changes, airport pick-ups, injuries - do pardon me if I didn’t serve within your expected capacity. But it’s joyful to have you around. Not forgetting the whole Liaison Team too, you guys were really helpful to make it happen. Of course, how can I forget the people who helped me for the Opening Ceremony emoticon The people who helped me in making the torches, you guys are awesome emoticon Geez, I’m still saddling the feeling of guilt because some travelling participants and supporters helped out too! emoticon My apologies for the delays and awful rehearsals. It worked out perfectly that night - all credit to you people.

The videos for both Opening and Closing were okay.

Well, it’s just my feeling again. Somehow, I couldn’t arrange a perfect puzzle to connect people during the Games. The video is just momentary. Well, no more babbling anyway. I did enjoy myself. A great lesson emoticon
